Income Stream: Start Your Own YouTube Channel
How many times have you pulled up a YouTube video in your classroom to enrich instruction?
Was it another educator explaining a tough or confusing topic for students?
Was it an audio you played for a difficult story because it would work better than having the kids read it themselves, or YOU reading it for every class?
As you watched or listened, did you think, “Hmmm, I would have said this or that because the students would understand it better”, or did you think, “Wow, he really needs to slow down because he’s talking to fast, and he should add more zip to his reading?”, or my usual issue, “What’s up with all the flashing graphics?”
Solve this problem for yourself and others by starting your own YouTube Channel. Is this a get-rich-quick side hustle?
No. It will take time, but after you get the required views and subscribers, you’ll be on your way.
So, how do you start your own YouTube channel on the world’s most-visited site?
- Plan Your Video Content: Set goals for your channel, know the audience (or topic) you want to focus on, and the types of content you want to create (Education content, tutorials). Once you know, check out how similar channels manage their personal channel.
- Set Up Your Channel: Complete the steps to open your channel and add your unique branding. Check out the platform, verify your channel, and look into purchasing the equipment you’ll need to start making videos.
- Record Your First Video: Be consistent in your posts. Videos should be structured properly for your audience, just as you would for your classroom students. Watch the length, use music, and edit videos properly.
- Promote Your YouTube Channel: Don’t be afraid to ask for likes and subscriptions. Use engaging thumbnails, include keywords in your titles, keep your audience engaged, and monitor your analytics to see what’s working.
